February 17, 2021

Fetse 349 was just one month away from reaching the respectable age of 28. But the Feitse 293 Preferent son didn’t live to see that day. On February the 17th the Sport stallion died at Quantum Stud in South Africa.

From famous showdriving pedigree

Fetse 349 was born as Frits B. in Jan Bosma’s yard in St. Nicolaasga in the year 1993. He came from a famous showdriving line with his dam Ordina B. Star (Djurre 284) and granddamn Erma Model Preferent (Reitse 272), who both won major championships in the harness with Jan Bosma. Fetse 349 was standing stud at stallion keeper Frits de Jong’s station, who was also part-owner and successfully competed the stallion in the harness. One of their victories was the 1999 National Title Unicorn with Nanno 372, Olof 315 and Fetse 349. In 2011 the stallion moved to South Africa to Quantum Stud where the Bosma- and De Jong families even went to visit him at some stage.

Four approved sons

Fetse 349 leaves the Studbook with a considerable legacy. After his approval in 1996 he reached his peak in 2001 when he serviced 203 mares. His total number of stud services exceeded 1700. Through his approved sons Teeuwis 389 Sport (sire of Mewes 438), Time 398, Wobke 403 and Ymte 407 many Friesian horses carry his blood. On top of that he sired fifteen Preferent mares, seven Model mares, two Crown- and eight Sport horses and his Star percentage stood at 46%.
