With 25% of the votes, Model mare Gea v.d. Slothoeve Sport AA (Maurits 437 x Gradus 356) voted the Model mare of 2020. The Gea, bred by Cees Breimer, is owned by the English Kirsty Baldwin.

More than 4000 people voted for their favorite via Phryso.com, a few dozen reply cards were also received by post. After Gea, Sjieke van de Klei Model AA (Beart 411) and Susanne Model Sport AAA (Norbert 444) also frequently appeared in the top list of the most popular Model mare of 2020. And also Summer van Stal de Berkmeer Model Sport AAA (Wylster 463) and … … actually every Model mare had her fans. Of course they are all top mares!
More opportunities in the Netherlands
Only one can win. ‘Oh really? How wonderful.” England’s Kirsty Baldwin was pleasantly surprised to learn that her Gea has won. “Here in England a lot of people participated in the voting,” she says. Gea – in England they call her Frea because they cannot pronounce the G – has been in the Netherlands for a number of years, where Sandra Verhoeven takes care of her. “She will have more opportunities in the Netherlands,” says Kirsty. After her Model decleration, Sandra rides the 10-year-old mare several times a week. “Next year we are going to try to conceive her with Elias 494,” Kirsty says. “A real dressage foal from Gea, that’s my big wish.”
