On Wednesday October 9th the DG Bar Ranch in Hanford was the scene of the Central Inspection for the western part of the United States. Jury members on site were Piet Bergsma and Jolanda Slootjes. They chose the 3-year-old Antonia YL Star (Anton 343), owned by D. Gary Young, as the best mare of the West Coast. Bergsma: ‘Antonia was the most complete mare. With breed expression, strong conformation and a super trot.’ It was obvious Antonia had inherited her dam´s strong trot: Fredau fan de Lege Geaën Crown (Norbert 444)) took the lead in the category Crown mares.

Gary Young thoroughly studied the Friesian bloodlines and was keen to combine Anton 343 with a modern-type Friesian mare. He bought the last available semen samples by Anton 343 and used one to inseminate Fredau fan de Lege Geaën. This combination resulted in a ravishing mare: the now 3-year-old Antonia YL. The idea is to compete Antonia in driven sports and to use her for breeding. ‘She is a wonderful calling card for the firm Young Living Essential Oils,’ a proud stable manager Felix Santana tells us.
