No, it wasn’t the youthful Aarnold 471 with his superb presentation. Nor was audience favourite Alwin 469 one of the two last older stallions in the Champion inspection, even though he buoyantly thrust his foreleg far forward. Even Tsjalle 454 didn’t make the mark in spite of a fine presentation. And although Michiel 442 won himself an applause he didn’t make it to the final two.
Exhilarating final, both up to the challenge
Jehannes 484 and Nane 492 were the last two older stallions to make a bid for the Championship. ‘A terribly exhilarating final, both stallions are such close contenders’, Head of Jury Sabien Zwaga added to the suspense. It was quite obviously a hard decision, the first of the day. ‘Jehannes 484 with his abundant breed expression, very correct and longlined’, Sabien summarised. ‘He has a good walk and uphill body posture. But so does Nane 492.’ She kept the tension up just a little while longer. ‘Nane 492 again trotting with that little bit extra.’ The stallion had recently struggled with a tendon injury so he certainly had the Jury’s goodwill. But so did Jehannes 484 …..
Most constant presentation
‘We have chosen the stallion who gave the most constant performance in all presentations’, Sabien Zwaga announced on behalf of the Jury. ‘Jehannes 484 is the new Champion of the Older Stallions.’
