KFPS studbook stallion Jouwe 485 has become Sport Elite. The stallion by De Nieuwe Heuvel earned his predicate on Sunday, August 6, in rainy Soest where Sabine van de Loenhorst rode him to a score of 63.39% in the Prix St. Georges.
Aptitude for piaffe and passage
According to Sabine, the 12-year-old Jouwe 485 (Pier 448 x Folkert 353) is not yet at the top of his game. ‘He gets nice marks for the pirouettes, for the piaffe and passage he has talent, in the series he still gets a bit hot because he is so eager. It’s up to me to get the changes a little more under control.’ Sabine will try to take the stallion, owned by the van Doorn and Salari families, even further in dressage. ‘Yours is eager enough, so we’re riding fine.’She describes the stallion’s character as “always wanting to work. He never lets me down, while you can also put anyone on him. He’s on when he has to be and relaxed when he can be.’ Typical Jouwe 485 is also that he ‘talks’ while working. ‘He does make himself heard and in the meantime he just keeps working. I like that.
Two sons
Jouwe 485’s talent for dressage has now also been passed on to his two sons, Boet 516 and Arent 515, who by now already competes at ZZ-light level with Marijke Boelen. And Boet 516 is qualified to start in Z2 and is ridden by Sabine. ‘The sport aptitude does get passed on.’
