KFPS Studbook stallion Wiebert 527 passed away in South Africa

Studbook stallion Wiebert 527 Star Sport Elite (Maiko 373 x Brandus 345) has died at his home at Stud farm Adelprag in South Africa. The 16-year-old Grand Prix stallion was promoted to KPFS Studbook stallion in August last year after completion of the Short Test.

Bred in Germany

Wybren van Ass Star Sport Elite, which was the name given to Wiebert 527 at birth, was born in the yard of the Schaefer family in Germany and since 2015 he has been stabled at the Adelprag Stud farm of his owner Nic Pienaar and rider Chere Burger. He is a son of Maiko 373 out of Tinneke van ’t Riet Stb Preferent Performance (Brandus 345 x Tjimme 275) who is a Crown Jewel as well as double Preferent, with two Sport Elite and three Sport children among her offspring.

Inquisitive and friendly personality

In addition to his fine lineage from a sporty dam line, Wiebert 527 was always praised for his sport aptitude, his inquisitive and exceptionally friendly personality. He always behaved like a ‘gentleman’, is how he was described in the report of the Short Test. After his approval Wiebert 527 became an active stud stallion. The probable cause of his death that put such a premature end to his still budding career, may have been heart failure.
