For Jury members Louise Hompe and Peter de Meulmeester the Friday evening of August the 30th started with seven IBOP Tests. Nina Nurmesviita´s 5-year-old Vienna van Vitikkala (Take 455) scored 80 points. Louise Hompe: ‘This combination was simply bursting with fun. They rode a really relaxed test with the rider visibly enjoying herself as well. The mare is not overly tall but with an even build and she moved in a very light-footed way.’ At the inspection Vienna was registered in the Studbook as Star 2nd premium.

The 8-year-old Crown mare Jebina van Vitikkala (Maurus 441) received an orange rosette on Saturday´s inspection and she comes from the same breeder, Juhani Salminen´s Stud Vitikkalan Rusthalli Ky. ‘Fine mare who just lacked that little bit extra to become Model,’ Louise Hompe explained. Day Champion Jebina was trained for the inspection by the breeder´s 11-year-old daughter Patricia Salminen. ‘She has done everything all by herself. Lunging, riding as well as washing and clipping the mare,’ Juhani Salminen tells us, so she insisted on leading Jebina to the inspection ring herself too.’ Niels Kramer and Remmelt Hoekstra had travelled with them and took care of presenting the horses.

In Finland inspections are organised every other year. ‘Horses don´t leave their yards very often, distances are considerable and winters are long, which explains why they were fairly excited at the inspection,’ says Louise Hompe who continues to say that the weekend was excellently organised: ‘We have given a clinic about how Friesian horses are judged. We had a group of twenty people who were interested, including a few new members. Let´s hope we´ll see even more horses at the next inspection two years from now.’
