Martine Breedveld and Jan Veldhuis are nominated for the KFPS board

The KFPS trust committee has selected two candidates they will nominate as candidates for the KFPS board at the members’ council meeting in the autumn.

Martine Breedveld

Martine Breedveld is 39 years old and lives in Leiderdorp with her family. In daily life, she is involved in strategy, policy and international relations at a government organisation. She is also a city councillor and has held various board positions within political/social organisations in the past. Martine finds pleasure and relaxation in the horse stable where she has a Friesian gelding and several Gelders breeding mares. In the coming years, Martine wants to commit herself to the beautiful Friesian horse breed and the association.

Jan Veldhuis

Jan Veldhuis (60) lives with his wife Nynke Hilarides in Opeinde near Drachten; they have two daughters and a son. Jan shares his passion for Friesian horses with Nynke; together they enjoy riding their Friesian mare Femmie fan S. Jan has been a lawyer for over 35 years, of which almost 20 years as partner at TRIP Advocaten Notarissen (Groningen – Assen – Leeuwarden). Jan specialises in expropriation law and – acting for various authorities in the Northern Netherlands – has extensive experience in complex land acquisition issues. Jan has been a disciplinary judge in equestrian sports for 20 years, about half of which as chairman of the disciplinary tribunal of the KNHS (both basic and top sport). Jan has been secretary-treasurer of the KWPN for 3 years and a member of the Stallion Industry Certification Assessment Committee for 3 years. Jan is currently a board member of the Fries Landbouwmuseum | Nationaal Veeteeltmuseum in Leeuwarden/Goutum, partly because of his knowledge of the Friesian horse in a broad sense.

At the Members’ Council meeting on 25 November, the Members’ Council will vote on the candidates joining the board.
